Saltuars

Work in Progress
Currently in progress—this is just a rough draft for now, subject to significant changes. However, the overall vibe should remain: this is a secretive forest-dwelling people who strive to avoid dangers and live in harmony with the numerous spirits that surround them. Strong Celtic druidic influences mixed with elements of early medieval Scandinavian culture.

In DnD terms, if we consider the stereotypical inclinations of the people, Saltuars are a great choice for rogues, bards, and druids.

Saltuars are the people who have made the forests of Verda their home. Cunning and agile, they easily conceal their presence among the trees, setting traps and safeguarding the secrecy of their settlements—not only from outsiders but even from one another.

Saltuars have fair skin, long noses, thick red hair in most cases, and green eyes. The men wear long beards, which they braid in a distinctive manner—each knot holding a special, sacred meaning.

They build their homes from logs and sustain themselves through hunting, fishing, and cultivating lakeside lands. Some clans living in the foothills mine and refine metals, trading their work with the Aridars.

Saltuars believe in the spirits of nature—they are convinced that every entity has its own spirit, and each can be bargained with. They prefer to avoid open combat, relying on traps and snares for hunting, but if forced into battle, they fight fiercely and ruthlessly.
